Trip Overview

This trekking is one of the most adventurous and comfortable trekking route in Nepal then other trekking routes, and also very popularly known as to get the best view of the EVEREST and its range, a part of MT. KANCHANGUNGA . This trek can be starts from the foothills of Jiri or from the phaplu airpoort fly in and out or, if wish to drive back from the trek can be end from many places like the main market area (salleri , phaplu or patale). 

This 13,500 feet (4,068 m)  high Pikey peak being one of the tallest mountain in the Solu (lower everest region)  entwines with the Chyabe across east to west. The name Pikey comes from the two titles of the Sherpas and Tamangs. The month of July is a time of great celebration as the locals worship their clan god, the eastern Chyabo Pikey, as Pikey Hlapchen Karbu in the celebrations. This is a trail through Jiri-Chaulakharka-Ngaur- to reach the Pike Daanda (Hill) area. Another trail leads from Pike Daanda to Phaplu through Paanch Pokari and Tamakhani located north east from the district centre Salleri. 

The Pikey Danda is most popular for its sunrise and sunset views and one can enjoy the glorious sight of the peaks beyond the Kathmandu Valley to the plains along with the Himalayan range of Mt. Everest, Makalu and Annapurna. This trekking has to be organized as camping style however also small lodges and the possibility of home stay has started on this route.

 

Itinerary

Itinerary in details

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 
Arrival in Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and you will be welcomed by our staff at the airport waiting you outside with the smile and then you will be picked up to the hotel and you will be briefed about the trekking . Stay overnight at Hotel.

Day 02: Full Day Guided Sightseeing Tour in Kathmandu Valley by private transportation
Early in the morning after the breakfast , we will be driving to pashupatinath ( cremation place for the hindu religion people ) also listed in the WORLD HERITAGE SITES. Bouddhanath one of the bigger stupa of the world where you find both the hindu and buddhism follower and Swyambhunath ( a monkey temple).

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Phaplu 2470m and trek to Salleri 2390m- 5 Hours. 
We take a 30 mins flight to phaplu airport and hike for 30 mins more and reach salleri. We see the local market in Salleri and enjoy a visit to local monasteries such as Chewang monastery. (O/N) 
 
Day 04: Trek from Ghunsa to Pattale 2840m via Kerung- 7 Hrs
Tamangs, Magars and Sherpas culture can be experience during the hike from Ghunsa to Pattale. Not only this, we can also enjoy the views of beautiful sceneries of mountains and landscapes and we will visit monasteries, mani walls and Buddhist stupa at Kerung. . (O/N) 
 
Day 05: Trek from Pattale to Jhapre 2820m-6 Hour
 Here we will view beautiful landscapes along the Solu Okhaldhunga border. There are monasteries and Buddhist stupa in Jhapre. The cultural show performed here is attraction of watching. (O/N)
Day 06: Trek from Jhapre to Pikey peak 4065m- 6 Hours
Today, we experience high altitude vegetation and can see Himalaya floras and faunas. We find centuries old monasteries, Buddhist stupas and mani stones. The yak herding can be seen at different places. We are accompanied by unique landscapes and sceneries. This particular area is feasible for marathon and mountain bike race. we will be seeing also the cheese factory and stay overnight (O/N)
 
Day 07: Trek from Pikey to Junbesi 2700m- 5 Hours
Early in the morning we will be taking the pack breakfast and start to climb to the pikey peak for the sunrise the trail goes from Pikey to Junbesi via Pikey peak. we will get to see the view of  mountain peaks from Kanchenjunga to Dhaulagiri including Everest. After we cross Pikey peak we will walk down through unique landscape to Junbesi valley. (O/N)
 
Day 08: Trek from Junbesi to Thuptenchholing and trek back to Junbesi
 At Thuptenchholing we can observe traditional Tibetan medicinal therapy and visit the monastery. Junbesi is a quiet big village of the tamang and sherpa village which is also the other junction for the hikers to go to Dhudkunda Number himal  trek.  
 
Day 09: Trek from Junbesi to Phaplu 2470m- 6 Hours
This day will be the last day we will be hiking down to Phaplu which takes about 6 hours. The last day of the trek so you can enjoy the farewell day with our staffs who will entertain you with their typical nepali culture dance and songs.
 
Day 10: Fly from Phaplu to Kathmandu which takes about 35 minutes
You can either fly or drive back to kathmandu from phaplu according to your programme or time you have, you will be picked up here in kahtmandu and take you to your hotel back.

Day 11: Leasure day :
This day is a leasure day incase if the flight cancel or get delay . If everything works on schedule then you will have a time to do the sightseeing in kathmandu or use your time for shopping a souviner to your loved ones back home.
 

Day 12: Final Departure from Kathmandu
You will be dropped at the airport for the final Departue
